showing you how quick and easy it is to install this thing right now I don’t know if you can see this but it is 4:01 let’s take a look all right 4:03 so that took like one and a half two minutes let’s take a look and see how it’s done first you’ve got the extending arm here you basically set one side on the truck bed and extend it out to the other side of the truck right here get it nice and tight and close to clamping arm once you’ve slid out the extending arm and the padded brackets are on each side of the truck bed spin the micro adjust to lock it down nice and tight once you’ve tightened down the micro adjust give it a couple bowls to make sure it’s stable in place and it is this thing isn’t going anywhere once you’ve got the slide mount in the location you want just use the tool provided by swagman to tighten it into place while we’re here I want to show you a couple other nice features on this rack first of all both the micro adjust and the clamp come with lock and key so you can rest assured knowing that your rack is safe second I really like the rubber padded brackets that sit on the bed because it really sticks nice and tight and protects the bed from any scratch the patrol rack comes with two sliding impact fork mounts which is really nice because you can adjust them to sit in the truck bed where it’s convenient for you each is rated for 35 pounds and you can purchase additional mounts for $45 there’s a steel pin that can be added to the padded bracket it can be drilled into a truck bed liner or just screwed in to secure this thing it provides extra stabilization and prevents anyone from giving the rack a tug out of place the patrol rack comes standard set up with a nine millimeter quick release mount the box does include 15 millimeter and 20 millimeter thru-axle mounts as well as 15 by 150 140 to 138 and 110 millimeter mounts for fat bikes I’ve been using the swagman Patrol for a couple of months now and I’ve been extremely pleased I really put this thing through the paces including driving down some really bumpy dirt roads driving on some highways and even having a little bit of fun and I’ve been extremely happy to report that it has been cool and really tighten this thing down nice and tight and it has stayed in place perfect a couple of months back I reviewed the kuat NV 4 spot rec which I’ll link right up your Florida I really like that and I still really do like that but there is one thing about a good truck bed rack that you just can’t beat and that’s that it gets the bikes out of the elements and keeps them more protected bikes on hitch racks just seem to get really dirty they’re more exposed to the elements down on the ground like that and they seem to get dirty and grime and salty and I really that up here they’re much more protective also they’re protected from any collisions up here happens to be them like three weeks after I did that kuat NV rack review I got rear-ended and there are some damage to the rack and damage to the bikes so I really like that when the bikes are up here they’re protected from things like that also you can’t beat the price at two hundred and forty dollars that Patrol is much more cost-effective than most hitch racks and last but not least I like that they sit low in the truck bed roof racks have the bike sitting way up high and we’ve all seen those videos where people pull into the garage or pull into something low and cook off their bikes and that is a bikers worst nightmare I also really like how quick and easy it is to install this record earlier you saw how fast it was and that wasn’t me trying to be super quick about it that is legitimately how long it takes to install this it doesn’t require a bunch of tools and this is almost exactly how it came out of the box the only tool I really needed to get to setup was an Allen wrench and that was to switch out the standard 9 millimeter quick-release that comes on this to a through axle mount the only other tool you need for this rack is the swagman provided tool which is very similar to a allen wrench or a star nut wrench and that is used to adjust the sliding rods and that is only one of two downsides I can think of about this rack if you happen to lose this guy you are gonna be in trouble because it is the only way to go about adjusting those so make sure to put this somewhere where you won’t lose it like the bike toolbox or safe place in the cab the only other thing that I could think of that I would like different about this rack is a locking mechanism with your exits we already talked about the locking mechanism on the micro and the macro adjustment points which is really nice because we know that the RAC is not going to go anywhere and if you happen to use a nine millimeter quick-release then you’re set because that mount also comes with a lock and key that is the same one as the adjustments for the rack but I would really love a locking portion or the mounts that are used for quick releases aside from those two small things this rack has been phenomenal I’ve been extremely pleased it keeps the bikes nice and safe and I’m definitely gonna keep using it thanks for
